Dripping Springs Time Capsule

The ability to go back in time through photographs has always been a constant in my life—maybe in yours too. The albums and boxes may have mostly gone digital (smh), and those hours spent on the floor, flipping through prints and asking about long lost relatives and old dogs, might not happen very often. But the feeling is similar. A single image can hold a story you didn’t realize you’d forgotten, and it just might be waiting for the right moment to pull you back in.

Back in early 2022, I began work on Canter Culture’s first campaign—riding tights designed by equestrians, for equestrians. Not just for the barn, but for running errands, grabbing dinner, and waiting around the horse show.

Since that first shoot, Canter Culture’s founders, Sarah and Lauren, and I have workshopped countless concepts and tackled plenty of challenges together.

But today, while digging through a retired hard drive for an unrelated photo from many moons ago, I stumbled upon a folder titled CC Test Shoot—and dang, did it take me back. The images were familiar but distant, the lighting tests, the outtakes, the first glimpses of an idea taking shape—it all came rushing back. I could remember the weather that day, the conversations, the quiet excitement of trying something new.
